Plan safety & quality

As the more complex and imposing modern structures become — and the more users they aim to serve — it is increasingly essential to place integrated fire protection systems at the heart of effective and secure building design.

When installed correctly, Intumex products and systems prevent the penetration and spread of flames and hot gases from one fire compartment to another. Points of particular vulnerability occur where pipes, cable trays, ventilation ducts and other mechanical and engineering services penetrate fire compartments.

The superiority of Intumex is also usefully employed as an integral component of doors, windows and general architectural language. For example, the interface between glazing or door framing — traditional areas of problematic concern — receive maximum fire scenario protection if they are sealed with Intumex technology.

Optimum safety naturally requires assured quality. Intumex products are therefore subject to diligent quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 (EN 29001) and since 1991 have been certified by independent and internationally recognised regulatory agencies. Not surprisingly, efficacious fire protection is also reflected by test certificates that take into account different national standards and ecological conditions.

Intumex products routinely resist enervating atmospheric influences such as humidity, heat, frost and etiolation by light. Ambient industrial environments and even tropical conditions do not impair the function of Intumex products whose success is based on the superior characteristics of proprietary graphite, intumescent technology. The latter will expand — in temperatures upwards of 150°C — to 20 times their original volume, unless restricted. When physical expansion is restricted, pressure up to 20 bar develops, with the sealing char forming a solid, fireproof barrier.

Intumex products and systems...the only limitation to effective fire protection is the imagination of the building planner, designer and architect.
